The Covid 19 pandemic has forced restaurants to reinvent themselves. In order to survive this period of forced closure, many have embarked on home delivery. Either these professionals provided the delivery service themselves, or they chose to register on dedicated platforms.

Food service establishments, which have every interest in perpetuating this "home catering" service, will have to deal with new issues, which are not related to physical points of sale. What are they and how can they be easily dealt with? RusHour provides you with some answers.

1. Waste of time due to lack of automation

While fresh produce needs the hands of cooks to come out in the form of delicious salads, burgers or even desserts, those same hands can waste time if they intervene too often in the meal delivery process.

So much so that some restaurants are forced to employ one or more full-time staff members to handle deliveries and customers in the dining room. This takes a lot of time, creates stress among employees and, inevitably, delays in processing each request for home delivery of meals. And in the kitchen, orders are confusing!

By automating their home delivery service with a dedicated solution, many (and costly) mistakes will be avoided. Employees will have more time for the customers in the room. All customers will be satisfied, which is essential for the development of the turnover!

2. The multiplication of interfaces

To boost business, a restaurant owner will be tempted to be present on several platforms to see more of their meals delivered. The downside of this practice is that each platform will have its own interface with its own functions, text and sound notifications. This requires employees to always be able to manage multiple tablets and printers to send orders to the kitchen. And then, who will calmly take care of the customers enjoying their lunch break in the dining room?

Fortunately, there is already a solution to this problem. RusHour centralizes all your online orders on a single tablet and printer. This way, all order forms are centralized in one place. The management of take-away sales and lunches becomes child's play! Some traditional restaurant customers who have already opted for this type of service have noticed a clear improvement in the quality of their customer relations.

3. A lack of knowledge of stocks

A restaurant owner knows the number of meals served in the restaurant. But how can he know how much product he has left in stock if every order placed online does not result in an immediate update of the stock on his software? If a user is looking for his favourite dishes and finds that they are unavailable, he will not change his menu. They will change the store.

Our solution includes stock management in its functionality. This guarantees that for every order placed, the team members will find the necessary foodstuffs in sufficient quantity in the reserves.

4. Highly motivated delivery people

As we know from their sad news, delivery drivers need to be very involved in meal delivery if they want to make a good living from it. So if the restaurant is slow to provide them with the orders placed, they lose time, and therefore money. It is essential that they show up at the point of sale at the right time.

Moreover, by arriving too early and in too large a number, they could inconvenience the customers seated in the dining room. And when customers can follow the progress of their order live, it is not the best effect to inform them that their delivery person is waiting for the meal... Delivery times that are considered too long can lead to negative comments.

Thanks to an adapted delivery solution, the preparation time of each meal is known and memorized thanks to a history. This way, the delivery men show up at the right time.

RusHour's tip: if the layout of the premises allows it, restaurant owners can invest in the creation of areas for delivery personnel. By placing them close to the kitchens, it will be easier to keep them informed about the orders that are already ready.

All the problems encountered by restaurants that decide to deliver to their customers can be avoided if they equip themselves with a solution adapted to their needs. In addition to increasing their turnover, this solution will allow them to gain in serenity, to be more efficient in the management of this new activity, and to improve even more the quality of their relations with their customers. And, incidentally, to satisfy all the gourmets!
